Services Base Operations Support Services, generally called commercial activities, are the functions necessary to support, operate, and maintain DOD installations. SKE helps the installation Engineers and Public Works Staff effectively operate, maintain and repair their facilities through contracted services. Our philosophy at SKE is to work in partnership with you - with the resources available. In doing so, we assist you to accomplish your mission. The successes we share are based upon effective communication, a willingness to find common ground for agreement, and a strong commitment based upon mutual trust and understanding. A review of our past performance will support our claim that partnering is a hallmark of SKE. We manage single function contracts to multifunctional, all-inclusive whole base efforts through professional management, state-of-the-art Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) and a dedicated workforce of supervisors, tradesmen and office staff. Our customers achieve the largest savings by using a single contract, rather than several smaller contracts, to encompass multiple base operations support services. Our approach to each effort is influenced by a number of factors, including the mission and functions performed at the installation, missions of tenant activities, existing contractual arrangements, a desire to keep some functions in-house, and other restrictions. The activities contracted out ranged from relatively basic tasks such as messenger mail and refuse services to more complex ones such as utilities systems operations.
